Govt Inches A Step Closer To Killing Man-Eater Tigress, One Of Her Cubs Sighted In Yavatmal

The Maharashtra government has been carrying out a fierce operation for the last two weeks to track tigress Avni, labelled as ‘man-eater’ and given a shoot-on-sight order for allegedly consuming 13 human beings.

The forest administration, celebrated hunters, advanced equipment like thermal drones and motorised gliders, an Italian breed of dogs, horses and elephants have been commissioned inside the Pandharkawda forest, Ralegaon in the Yavatmal district to kill the tigress.

The government and officials spent days and nights looking for the elusive tigress, known as ‘T-1’by the government, a mother of two cubs as well. The team’s rigorous tracking exercise has finally seen the light of the day as the forest department got a glimpse of one of the two-cubs of Avni, the Indian Express reported.
