Ahead of his WWE Championship match against A.J. Styles at this month’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view, Samoa Joe spoke with the folks from Sky Sports for an interview.
During the discussion, Joe was asked if he feels the WWE title match against “The Phenomenal One” is the biggest match of his career. While he doesn’t quite feel the pressure, Joe admitted that it is.
“Sure, yes, of course, I’m fighting for the WWE championship at SummerSlam,” Joe told Sky Sports. “It’s a great opportunity for me. I’ve been in big matches before but it’s been with four other goons, but this is one-on-one and we’ll find out what’s what.”
Joe added, “There’s no pressure whatsoever but only because I understand the capabilities of the people involved. I mean, I’m looking forward to it. I know potentially what could go down in that ring and it’s all about getting ready for game day now and making it happen.”
On SmackDown Live last week, Joe cut a very personal promo on Styles, criticizing him for not being there for his wife and his children.
On this week’s SmackDown Live, which airs on Tuesday night in Orlando, Florida, Styles will give his response to Joe. On Sunday, the WWE Champion took to Twitter to talk about this week’s show.
I’ve heard the words.
I know what he said.
