UFC fighter Chael Sonnen spoke to MMAWeekly.com this week about his fight against Michael Bisping next weekend at UFC on FOX: Evans vs. Davis.

Sonnen was asked about the news of WWE Champion CM Punk backing out of appearing at the UFC event after it was widely reported that Punk would be accompanying Sonnen to the octagon for his fight.

Punk told MMA Weekly last week that Vince McMahon was the person who squashed his appearance at the UFC event, but Sonnen shed new light on the situation on Thursday night:

“I gotta tell you. I read those headlines. I never confirmed them. CM Punk never confirmed them. I’ll speak for myself – I’m not in the business of stopping a headline, but I never confirmed that anybody would be joining me. I know he didn’t confirm it.”
