Sports Illustrated reported that Shota Umino was originally supposed to team with Jon Moxley against Yuji Nagata & Ren Narita in the tag match that aired on NJPW Strong earlier this month, but Umino suffering an injury led to him being replaced by Chris Dickinson: “Sports Illustrated has learned that Moxley’s partner was originally intended to be Shooter, who is a New Japan prospect (or, in NJPW terminology, Young Lion) Shota Umino. He suffered an injury and was unable to work the match. Dickinson was a late addition to the match, specifically requested by Moxley, and he fit in perfectly with his violent, believable commitment to the craft.” Umino has been Moxley’s protege in NJPW.
An eight-man tag match with The Foundation (Jay Lethal, Jonathan Gresham, Tracy Williams & Rhett Titus) facing Violence Unlimited (Brody King, Tony Deppen, Chris Dickinson & Homicide) will headline the ROH TV episode that premieres the weekend of Saturday, May 29. The episode will also feature LSG vs. Joe Keys, with the winner getting to choose whether they want to be ranked in the Pure or TV title division.
Josh Woods vs. Silas Young in a Pure Rules match will air on the ROH TV episode that premieres the weekend of Saturday, June 5.
On Twitter, Revolution Pro Wrestling responded to a question that asked if Will Ospreay’s neck injury is going to affect the RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship that Ospreay currently holds: “Too early to say. Our situation is very different to NJ.  No immediate changes need to be made as we hadn’t factored any title defences for first shows back. Time will tell. But we’ve spoken to Will & he will likely address the situation in person at one of our first shows back.”
During an appearance on the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, Darby Allin spoke about losing the TNT title to Miro: “I was hyped to go out when I did because I was having those string of main events and we were drawing good numbers when I was main eventing. I didn’t want to overstay my welcome. Like, ‘What the f*ck, when’s this guy gonna lose?’ I didn’t want to be that guy. I don’t have no ego when it comes to this. I was like, ‘Dude, I’m ready to roll out when I’m on top with it,’ so it was good. I really liked it.”
Axel Tischer (formerly known as Alexander Wolfe) spoke to Sport1 about his release from WWE: “Well, I got a call from WWE on Wednesday saying they didn’t want my contract to be extended. It wasn’t officially a dismissal because my contract expires on June 15. From then on I am no longer a wrestler for World Wrestling Entertainment. Strangely, it hit me less hard than I expected. I’m quite relaxed and happy, I don’t feel like pitying myself. First of all, I am generally a positive person, secondly, I can look back on six wonderful years at WWE with great and unique experiences. Thirdly, I have had a plan B for a long time, which I am now tackling — and I also have little time to complain about it, because I have to organize a big move within four weeks, move furniture, cancel subscriptions, all the trimmings. It goes on and I am in good spirits that I can now apply everything I have learned elsewhere, where it is just as valued — maybe even more.”
The first episode of Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay’s (formerly known as Peyton Royce and Billie Kay) Off Her Chops podcast was released yesterday.
Dean Muhtadi (formerly known as Mojo Rawley) tweeted last night: “10 days until you get me. The real me. The version of me I’ve been so reeeeaaadddy to share with y’all for a decade. #StartTheCountdown!!!!!”
Nick Gage challenged Matt Cardona to face him at Game Changer Wrestling’s show in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Saturday, June 5.
