Eight clubs in Russia in a bankruptcy storm?

Most teams in the Russian Super League are in dire financial straits, Bulgarian media reported today as per information of  a newspaper called “24 hours”.

The championship, which was until now named as the best financially secured, is on the verge of a major crisis, the media states.

According to unofficial information in 8 of the 14 elite clubs there are serious delays in salary. This way coaches can not require from the players to take part in the activities if they don’t want to.

Guberniya Nizhniy Novgorod was the first team to alert for the situation.  Fans called officially the  Governor Nizhgorodska area Valery Pavlinovich to save the team from a financial ruin. Recently Plamen Konstantinov- head coach of the team and also head coach of Bulgaria Volleyball team Men acknowledged that the situation is extremely severe.

As strange as it sounds, there were also financial difficulties in Gazprom- Yugra. A similar picture is to be seen in the team of Neftohimik and at least 5 other clubs.

Familiar with the situation revealed that the crisis in the Russian clubs is related to the depreciation of the ruble. At the beginning of the calendar year, a dollar was worth 33 rubles, but recently the rate jumped to over 70. The devaluation of the Russian currency came because of lower oil prices and sanctions imposed by the West because of the Ukrainian crisis.
