Plans for the entire cruiserweight division in WWE have had to be altered due to the firing of Enzo Amore. Enzo’s controversial departure from WWE has left 205 Live without a champion. Smackdown’s Daniel Bryan even made an appearance on last Tuesday’s show to address the situation, and he promised that the show will be getting a General Manager who will then announce what the plan is for the show and for the Cruiserweight Championship. As promised, Daniel Bryan revealed the new General Manager for the show on last night’s edition of 205 Live. The first-ever 205 Live GM is none other than former Impact Wrestling sensation Rockstar Spud.

Rockstar Spud had been rumored to be joining WWE’s cruiserweight division for several weeks, but his debut was constantly being delayed by the company. After teasing his arrival on Twitter over the past few days, Spud debuted on Tuesday’s show as 205 Live’s new GM. Spud has been wrestling since 2001, but he is most known for his run in Impact Wrestling. Rockstar Spud became a member of the Impact roster after winning the first season of the promotion’s British Boot Camp series. He teamed up with fellow new WWE star EC3, and he even won the X Division Championship on two different occasions. Daniel Bryan announced Spud as Drake Maverick on last night’s show.

Spud, now known as Drake Maverick, then talked about the future of 205 Live. He announced that there will be a 16-man tournament to crown a brand new Cruiserweight Champion. Details of the matches in the tournament remain scare at the moment, but the first two matches in the tournament took place later during the show. Cedric Alexander defeated Gran Metalik to move forward in the tournament, then TJP defeated UK star Tyler Bate to earn a spot in the second round. Next week will see NXT star Roderick Strong make his main roster debut against Hideo Itami in a first round tournament match. The finals of the tournament will take place at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans.
