Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins went into battle against Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy this evening on Monday Night Raw, and the stakes could not have been higher for the challengers.
The Street Profits were informed earlier in the night that if they were unable to defeat the so-called “Monday Night Messiah” and his disciple in a big WWE Super Showdown rematch, they would never again be able to challenge for the Raw Tag Team titles.
For two Superstars who have made their careers in WWE off tag team wrestling, that basically leaves them two options – break up, or find their way to a different brand at some point in the future. Luckily, Profits were up for the former NXT duo, as Ford and Dawkins overcame the odds with a little help from Kevin Owens to get the win, becoming your brand new champions in the process!
Just as it looked like the Street Profits had the match within their grasp, a snap of the captain’s fingers brought down the hulking Authors of Pain to ringside. However, with the referee distracted trying to deal with the AOP, Owens used the opportunity to hit the ring and drop Rollins with a picture-perfect stunner.
