The Mae Young Classic ended with Kairi Sane defeating Shayna Baszler to win the tournament and trophy. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter says that Baszler was not originally scheduled to be in the finals of the tournament. Instead the final match was going to be Kairi Sane vs. Toni Storm, but WWE changed their plans in order to continue building towards a Horsewomen vs. Horsewomen match. An angle between the women was planned for the show, but WWE decided against it. Baszler is not booked for any future indy shows, and WWE is said to be interested in signing Toni Storm, Piper Niven, Candice LeRae, and Mercedes Martinez. None of these women have been signed yet though.
It was recently reported that WWE only put Raw Superstar Emma in the upcoming Fatal 4-Way match for the Raw Women’s Championship at No Mercy because she will be the one taking the pinfall loss. This may not actually be the case if Cageside Seats is to be believed. They claim that Emma’s constant bragging about starting the Women’s Revolution will lead to Asuka arriving on Raw and beginning a feud with her. It is possible that Emma may not be the one who gets pinned in the match as WWE plans to have her be Asuka’s first rival on the main roster, and they want fans to buy into Emma as a serious threat to Asuka’s undefeated streak.
The No Mercy card is stacked with the huge championship match between Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar, and the much-anticipated bout between John Cena and Roman Reigns. In addition to having several stellar matches on the undercard, it seems like No Mercy is going to be a fantastic show. Sportskeeda is now reporting that the show will likely have some surprise matches thrown in. The two matches being discussed for the show at the moment include The Miz vs. Jason Jordan for the Intercontinental Championship, and The Hardy Boyz vs. Gallows & Anderson in order to determine the next contenders for the Raw Tag Team Championships.
