Oops! WWE Didn’t Actually Put on Abu Dhabi’s First Women’s Wrestling Match…TNA Did

This week the women of WWE made history when Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss wrestled the company’s first women’s match in Abu Dhabi. The story was picked up by numerous mainstream media outlets across the world as a progressive milestone and groundbreaking achievement (which it was), but as it turns out TNA actually got the jump on this one about seven years ago.

When the stars of Impact Wrestling came to Abu Dhabi back in 2010, it was actually Madison Rayne, Sarita, Angelina Love and Velvet Sky who wrestled the first women’s match in United Arab Emirates history.

Not to take anything away from Banks and Bliss, who in all fairness did wrestle the first WWE women’s match in Abu Dhabi, and technically you could make the case that it was the first women’s singles match there as well. It’s still a great achievement, but even Triple H himself publicly stated that it was the first time women had competed in the UAE. And in all fairness, so did several dozen publications (including us)… Sorry about that, TNA Knockouts.

My mindset: With all due respect, Knockouts did it first. https://t.co/zLcIpHaZNj
