…and maybe more, only time will tell, but he also heard his Series long adversary, “The Duke” would also be absent.

 

“I’m not injured but I was dismayed to find out two of the scheduled Pub Series races fall on dates I’ve got previously scheduled commitments,” said Duke. “I did enjoy meeting Kevin last year and it’s too bad his knees are acting up. I’ll definitely be at The Brew Run and I’ll see what else I can make and then in 2012 I hope to do the whole Series again.”

 

The 2010 affair came down to the final Series race – Paddy’s Shillelagh Shuffle 3M in Newton, MA in Oct. Both McDonald and The Duke (Duke Hutchinson) were tied going in, but McDonald had gotten the better of his Bay State rival in their three previous meetings.

 

It was close. McDonald crossed the finish line on Border Street in 20:18 with Duke pursuing in 20:21. Final tally: McDonald, 25 – Hutchinson, 24. The third place Vet in the Series, John Winters, garnered 5 points in the wake of these two cruise ships.

 

Also opened up for the travelers in this year’s Pub Series is the Golden Gas Guzzler Award, delivered to McDonald this past December at the Doyle’s Pub Series banquet.
