St. Cloud State to face challenging schedule in 2019-20

St. Cloud State University Wrestling enters its 71st year of collegiate wrestling and its 2019-20 schedule will be highlighted by six home dual matches for the Huskies.

The list of home matches includes the annual Black/Red Classic (Nov. 1), Southwest Minnesota State (Nov. 20), Western State College (Jan. 5), MSU – Moorhead at Pierz H.S. (Jan. 30), Upper Iowa (Feb. 13) and Augustana (Feb. 19). Tickets for all home matches this season are available at www.scsutickets.com or you can purchase them at the gate on match days. All SCSU student get into all regular-season home matches at Halenbeck Hall for FREE.

The Huskies will start their 2019-20 non-conference dual schedule by heading to the Northeast Duals in Troy, NY (Nov. 9) as they will face American International, Pittsburg-Johnstown and Johnson & Wales. The Open season will get underway at the Finn Grinaker Open on Nov. 16 followed by the Dragon Open on Dec. 8. SCSU closes out their first semester as they travel to Northern State (Dec. 13) for a dual meet.

The competition stiffens as the Huskies look to defend their NWCA DII National Duals title on Jan. 10-11. The Ranger Duals (Jan 18) is back on the schedule as SCSU will take on Findlay, Tiffin and UW – Parkside in Kenosha, Wisc. The heat of the NSIC conference schedule will begin on Jan. 24 as the Huskies travel to Minot State followed up by a dual at Mary on Jan. 25. MSU – Mankato (Feb 1) is the last road dual of the year.

All of the Huskies postseason action will be in Sioux Falls, SD on Feb. 29 starting with the NCAA DII Region 5 Championships, and on Mar. 13-14 at the NCAA DII Championships.

St. Cloud State compiled a 20-0 record overall in 2018-19 including an NSIC Championship, Super Region 5 Championship and an NCAA Championship. The Huskies return six NCAA All-Americans and eight NCAA qualifiers. SCSU has won eight consecutive NSIC championships, four NCAA DII championships, six NCAA regional titles, and five NWCA DII National Dual titles since 2012. Of note, SCSU has not lost a home match since a loss to Upper Iowa on Feb. 14, 2010.
