December 27th, 2017
Report by Doug Enriquez for ProWrestling.com
Tonight is the night we have been building up towards over the last few weeks. 8 men started, 4 remain, and those four men will face off tonight in a Fatal 4-Way to determine the next challenger for Andrade “Cien” Almas NXT Championship at NXT Takeover: Philadelphia. Lars Sullivan, Johnny Gargano, Killian Dain, and Alister Black will all go head to head for a chance to compete for the top prize in NXT. All of these men have been impressive lately, and Sullivan & Black have even been undefeated. Something has got to give, and one of these men will walk away with a one way ticket to Philadelphia.
Also, since appearing on Raw alongside Paige & Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville has had a new confidence, and has taken that confidence to new heights, challenging NXT Women’s Champion, Ember Moon to a championship match. Will Deville continue her hot streak and dethrone the new Women’s Champion, or will Ember Moon continue reigning over NXT’s Women’s Devision?
THE STREET PROFITS vs. CHRIS STARR & RILEY APEX
Montez Ford gets things started against one of the men (The announcers never called either of these guys by name) and Ford is showing off his athleticism with a double leap frog, and takes him down. Ford tags in Dawkins and The Street Profits perform some tandem offense. Dawkins immediately hits with a European uppercut, and follows it up with a pop up spinebuster. Dawkins tags in Montez Ford, who climbs up to the top rope, and quickly hits a high altitude frog splash to pick up the victory.
Winners: The Street Profits
After the match, Montez Ford says that 2017 was a great year, but in 2018, they will conquer. The two men start listing every tag team, and saying they will be part of what they conquer. They finish the the Undisputed Era, and they say that in 2018, they’re coming for them.
NXT WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP: SONYA DEVILLE vs. EMBER MOON
Collar and Elbow tie up to start the match, and Sonya Deville gets the quick advantage and gets Ember Moon to the ground and tries to lock in an ankle lock, but Ember gets out quickly. Both women stand up, and this time Ember takes quick control and hits a snap mare on Sonya Deville. Both women stand up once again, and both women try to hit kicks on each other, but they continue dodging each other again and again until we end up with another stand off. Deville invites Ember Moon to a test of strength and then hits her with a stiff kick to the midsection. Deville sends Moon off the ropes, but Moon counters with a big kick to the face. Deville gets to the outside to recover, but Ember Moon quickly gives chase and hits a cannon ball off the apron to send Sonya Deville to the ground.
Back in the ring, Sonya Deville is able to regain advantage and hits Ember Moon with numerous knees, sending Ember Moon to the mat. Ember Moon tries to fight back by hitting forearms to Sonya’s back, but Deville quickly hits a belly to belly and goes for a cover, but is only able to get a two count.
Ember is on the mat, and Sonya Deville is has a tight grip around Moon’s midsection, keeping her grounded. Ember Moon is able to reverse Deville’s waist lock, and roll through to send Sonya Deville headfirst into the turnbuckle. Both women are exhausted, and Deville is first to her feet, but Moon is able to hit a suplex and then follow it up with a series of strikes, sending Deville to the mat. Ember Moon goes for the pin, but Deville kicks out at two.
Both women struggle to their feet again, Deville in the corner, and Ember Moon tries to hit a splash in the corner, but it’s countered with a kick to the midsection by Deville. Deville tries to hit a sliding knee strike to Ember Moon, but Moon is able to dodge and hits a springboard dropkick on Sonya Deville. This time, Deville is in the corner again, and Ember Moon is able to hit a running forearm, knocking out Deville. Ember Moon quickly climbs to the top, and Deville struggles to her feet, but is in perfect position for Ember Moon to hit the Eclipse and pick up the pinfall victory.
Winner and still NXT Women’s Champion: Ember Moon
After the match, Ember Moon’s celebration is interrupted by Kairi Sane, and the pirate princess makes her way to the top of the ramp. She stares down Ember Moon, and makes it clear that she has her eyes set on Ember Moon and the NXT Women’s Championship.
Out of nowhere, from behind, Shayna Bazler walks up behind Kairi Sane and locks in a killer sleeper hold, and locks it in and falls to the ground, completely knocking Kairi Sane out cold. The Queen of Spades is pryed off of Sane by referees, and gets up and immediately stares down Ember Moon, then walks off as Ember Moon looks on.
